Peg Rees Spotlight
Caption:
Peg Rees began her UO athletic career in 1973, one year after Title IX passed. Women’s sports were on the brink of a much-needed change. Rees lived through this transition and worked to ensure a brighter tomorrow. From a three-sport athlete at Oregon to a committee member and coach, Rees helped the UO implement Title IX and make moves for athletic equality. Let’s celebrate Rees for her support and devotion to encouraging women everywhere to Go Do Anything!

Story on the Back:
Becky Sisley began coaching at the UO in 1965 and became the first Director for Women’s Intercollegiate Athletics in 1973. She set the standard for an inclusive athletic program. Her efforts toward Title IX compliance led to more funding and facilities for women, including the University’s first official softball field. Sisley’s advocacy pushed the UO ahead of the curve in support for women’s athletics.
